Image SEO: how to help Google understand your website photos

Images need more than good visuals. Google needs access, context, alt text, structured data and fast pages to index them properly.

Why Google may ignore website photos

When an image does not appear in Google Images, the file is rarely the only issue. The crawler may be blocked, the image may be missing from the sitemap, or the surrounding page may not provide enough context.

For a professional portfolio, every important image should be accessible, descriptive and connected to a page that Google can index.

Context is the real signal

A file name alone is not enough. The title, copy, caption, alt text and structured data should all support the same topic. That is how a photo becomes part of the page, not just decoration.
